Augmented Reality app that shows 2 different scenes when the smartphone camera is pointed at the MergeCube or ClassCube.
There are the two different scenes that are visible on the cubes, as well as a Magic 8 Ball feature on one of the sides on each cube as shown below.
To use the Magic 8 Ball feature, flip the cube upside down and then flip it right side up in order to see the different Magic 8 Ball sayings (This may not work immediately, and you might need to flip the cube around in different ways)
The supported Unity version for this project is 2019.4.28f1
Go to the Github repository and download the project 1 folder
Once the project is downloaded, open the project using Unity Hub and add the project to the list by clicking add and selecting the project 1 folder.
Once Unity has opened up the project, click on the Projects tab in the bottom left corner and select the Assets section.
Next navigate to the Scenes folder in the Assets section, and drag that scene into the Scene Hierarchy in the Middle Left section of Unity.
Now remove the untitled scene, and then run the project by hitting the play button.
Aim the webcam at the MergeCube and/or ClassCube, and you will be able to see the different scenes of each cube.
Download the apk file from the Github repository and put it into the Downloads folder on your Android device.
Follow this guide to set your Device in developer mode.
Navigate back to your Downloads folder and select the project1.apk file to install the app.
Ignore the warnings, and let the app install on your device (Don't worry there are no viruses in this project).
Once the app has been installed, launch the app and give the app camera permissions.
Aim your android device at the MergeCube and/or ClassCube, and you will be able to see the different scenes of each cube.
Fishing can be common in Hawaii, so going fishing with a stool and a bucket adds a nice small touch to the scene.
These items are commonly found in beaches or by resorts in Hawaii, but it fits the scene.
Coconuts are pretty common around Hawaii and grow on palm trees, so they were placed around the island in the scene.
Although hotels are commonly found everywhere, the theme park feel given off by the Mickey and roller coaster models ties the hotel to Orlando. There's also a nice rooftop pool to go along with the hotel.
Florida is well known for their oranges, so I thought a fruit stand selling these oranges would be nice.
Positive Sayings: "For Sure" - A saying with a very sure certainty that something will happen.
"You Bet" - A saying with a good certainty that something will happen.
"100%" - A 100 percent guarantee that something will happen.
Unclear Sayings: "Ehhhhhh" - An unknown certainty that something may happen
"Come Again?" - Asking the user again because of uncertain outcome
"¯\_('_')_/¯" - A shrug text emoji that represents an unsure outcome
"idk" - shorthand slang for "I don't know"
Negative Sayings: "Better start praying" - Chances are slim, so pray to some god in hope that it will come true
"Let's not talk about it" - A negative outlook on the outcome
"Nah" - It's not going to happen
Palmtrees are common in Honolulu, and it fit really well with the island theme in my scene.
Since Honolulu is a city in Hawaii, it feels appropriate for my island to be surrounded by water.
Surfing is a big thing in Hawaii, so the surfboards are there to represent this.
The ukulele originated in Hawaii, so adding it to my scene gives it a more Hawaiian feel.
The Hawaiian Tiki model was to bring more of a Hawaiian feel to my scene.
Orlando is known for many of its theme parks, so adding a roller coaster to the scene was to represent that.
Mickey Mouse is one of Disney's characters and since Disney World is located in Orlando, it felt appropriate to show that.
The Lifeguard towers, volleyball, and volleyball net models were used to create a small beach scene behind the hotel, since a lot of hotels are built near the beach.
For the Honolulu Logo on the side of the cube.
For the Orlando Logo on the side of the cube.
Used this music to play in the background while the MergeCube was showing the scene.
Used this sound to represent screams from the roller coaster animation in the scene.
Used this sound to indicate when the Magic 8 ball sayings have been updated.
